id you know many dogs love to dance? From the cha-cha-cha to body-popping, dogs love to shake their butts to all sorts of sounds. Scientific research has shown that dogs who dance are up to 27% happier than dogs who never listen to music, and regular dance sessions can help them lives happier, longer, healthier lives. With that in mind, we at CatDogFish have selected five tracks that are guaranteed to get your doggy dancing.

Bowie was a trend-setter in many ways, and a man in touch with nature and his own mortality. Nowhere is this better represented than in his track “Diamond Dogs”, a cracking tune about life as a canine made from carbon which has been turned opaque by incredible heat and pressure in the Earth’s mantle. Many dogs like to dance to Bowie, for obvious reasons.

Led Zeppelin were massive fans of their studio’s black Labrador retriever, and wrote this song as a tribute to him. It’s certainly got a rhythm that all breeds can relate to, and suited to tail-banging and stadium mosh pits.

Iggy Pop channelled pets the world over with this catchy number about how well looked-after his dog is. Popular with teenage dogs and those with energy to burn.

A favourite of older pooches, Elvis had a big string of hits, culminating in this song about a lazy, rabbit-shy mutt. A song with a strong social commentary, about the class divide between pedigree and mongrel dogs, but nonetheless one that’s had paws tapping for over fifty years.

Proving that the appeal of dogs stretches beyond the realm of homo sapiens, crossing even the traditional lines of demarcation, here’s a song by a Cat called Stevens. A traditional love song, and often played as the last song at doggy proms.
