Best known as a racing dog, Greyhounds are also capable of sleeping almost all day. They’re no divas though, and are among the most affectionate and unaggressive dogs going.

Health & Care

As an old breed, Greyhounds are generally quite healthy dogs. However, because they’re lean and muscly, they’re unsuited to sleeping on floors or running on artificial surfaces. They also require alternative forms of anaesthesia, so make sure your vet is familiar with the breed.

Tip for first-time owners

Greyhounds, and all sighthounds, do not respond well to negative forms of training, so it’s important to not punish them but rather reward when they’ve done well.
